If you are like many other Medicare beneficiaries, you have probably wondered if a specific test or item is covered by Medicare. You may have looked up the test or item at www.medicare.gov to make sure it was covered. Now, there is an app for that. Recently Medicare.gov released its new app called " What's Covered". The app is available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This is a free app and it is designed to provide quick and easy information on the go. You can look up such things as: - How much a test or service will cost -What preventive services are available -What items such as smoking cessation or weight loss programs are covered -What Durable Medical Equipment items are covered and so much more. How Do I Get the App? You can get the app for your phone by going to Google Play for Android or Apple App store for iOS users. Make sure to download the Medicare.gov app specifically and not a knockoff. The correct app is What's Covered. You will know you have the correct app with the dark blue background with green and white writing. Important to Note This app is designed for individuals that have Original Medicare and/or Original Medicare with a Medicare supplement. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, the rules may be different based on your plan. To be safe, check with your plan to see how a specific test is covered and at what cost.
